We believe everyone involved with the hockey team has to have fun and it is our responsibility to create an atmosphere that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment, friendship and physical fitness through the hockey season experience. As coaches we encourage the players to want to represent their team, themselves and the West Northumberland Girls Hockey Association with pride, dignity and class. We believe happiness is the key to success in any sport and enthusiasm cannot be taught it has to be caught.

Tyler Gubler is relatively a young coach who started in the hockey business at a young age.  He is currently the next head coach for the West Northumberland Midget AA team for the 2019/2020 season, who has over a decade of coaching experience.

Tyler started his dream of playing hockey later in life, but wasted no time chasing his dream and moved through minor hockey at a quick pace.   He was drafted in 2000 in the 5th round to the Mississauga Ice Dogs, where he spent the better part of 2 seasons being coached by the legend Don Cherry himself and Steve Ludzik.  After missing his NHL draft year due to injuries, he decided to shift gears and go to school where he majored in Health Science and Kinesiology.

Paul Smith will be the defensive coach for the WNGHA Midget “AA” program for the 2019-20 hockey season. 

Paul brings several years of experience and success having coached provincial champions at all levels, in both girls and boy’s minor hockey.

Paul started coaching with the Belleville Girls Minor Hockey Association after playing junior hockey for Belleville.  Two of his intermediate teams won OWHA Provincial gold medals, with a several of those players moving forward to play hockey at Canadian Universities.
