Although it was not the way the Midget "AA" would have liked their season to end, they played a very talented Peterborough Ice Kats team who scored goals and kept them out of their own net. The Wild were all over the Ice Kats with net presence but couldn't get a bounce that would see the puck cross the Peterborough goal-line. Sarah Gundry who has had a stellar season in goal for the West Northumberland Midget "AA" Wild has officially committed to the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Program. Gundry will play net for the Finlandia University Lions in Michigan and will be an integral part of the immediate rebuild process within their women's hockey team. Her excellent marks with a GPA of 3.80 alongside her outstanding play for the Wild this season has assisted her in obtaining a four year position on the Lion's roster as well as academic scholarship awards. Our Midget "AA" Wild had a rough outing in Peterborough on February 23rd which sees the team now having to fight back and win their next three games to move on to the Provincial Championship tournament. Many parents were quoted as saying the team practiced hard in preparation for game two and looked ready to go, but in the end strong goaltending just was not enough to overcome the Ice Kats. WOW, make it 7.  Yes, Aislyn Stretch makes it 7 members of the Midget "AA" team that have been invited to the RUSH Showcase this coming June! "Stretch" is a hard-nosed player that is never intimidated to go to the dirty areas of the ice. Her hard work & commitment has paid off with an invitation alongside 6 of her teammates to the prestigious tournament in Brampton this spring. Our Midget "AA" Wild faced the highly ranked Clarington Flames in the best of 3 series but were eliminated at home in front of a very large crowd who watched some spectacular hockey. The Wild gave the Flames all they could handle right to the last "buzzer". The team will now switch their focus on to what is most important, a chance to play in the Provincial Championship tournament in the GTA in April. Our Wild face off against the Peterborough Ice Kats down 1-0 in the best of 5 series on Tuesday night in Peterborough. #GOWILD
