Structure

Our season structure will be broken down based on each division.

U9

  • Coaches will assign each player a team for insurance purposes that they will be rostered to
  • Players will practice within this team
  • Players will do 4 on 4 games against one another – breakdown of teams TBD by coaches

U11

  • Coaches will assign each player a team for insurance purposes that they will be rostered to
  • Players will practice within this team
  • Players will do 4 on 4 games against one another – breakdown of teams TBD by coaches

U13

  • We currently do not have enough numbers to run a U13 program this season. If interested in playing this year, Players will be rostered to the U15 age group for insurance purposes unless additional interest in a U13 division is discovered.

U15

  • Coaches will assign each player a team for insurance purposes that they will be rostered to
  • Players will practice within this team
  • Players will do 4 on 4 games against one another – breakdown of teams TBD by coaches

U18

  • Due to the number of players interested in the 2020/2021 season, additional Skills Sessions skates will be offered during the weekend of October 25.
  • Players will be rostered into one of 2 groups after these Skills Sessions for insurance purposes:
  • Two groups will be formed at the Tier 1 level (formerly Midget AA). These groups will skate together during practices and will be joining an extended bubble for 4 on 4 play
  • Another two groups will be formed of the players interested in Tier 2/3 (formerly Midget B, C, HL, etc.) and will be together for regular practices and will be playing jointly for local 4 on 4 play. The WNGHA Executive will work together with coaches at this level to assess the possibility of joining extended bubbles at a later date.
  • Optional additional development sessions will be offered to all players at an additional cost.

Ladies League

  • Players will be rostered to a team and will play 4 on 4 in a local league ran by WNGHA.

Senior Rep

  • Players will be joining an “extended bubble” and will be playing 4 on 4 hockey against two other teams (maximum bubble of 50) in our health unit district or adjacent health unit districts, as per OWHA, local Health Unit, and local facility's Return to Play Guidelines

Ice Frequency*

  • 1 practice per week
  • 1 game per week
  • Additional development sessions will be made available at an additional fee

* Depending on our ice allocation

4 On 4 Play

  • They will all be 50 minutes in duration, they will consist of a 2-minute warm-up followed by 4 on 4 hockey. And will be following OWHA approved 4 v 4 guidelines.
  • There will be Coaches/Referees and timekeepers at the appropriate age levels to keep score, call penalties and maintain order on the ice

What happens if the season shut down due to COVID related issues?

Depending on the severity of the stoppage, length of time, how far we are into our season, you could be eligible for a prorated refund based on us doing a financial breakdown and determining what expenses could be recovered and those that couldn't. As an example, fees due to the OWHA and insurance are paid up front.  Ice and a variety of other expenses could be reclaimed or simply not be charged at that point in time.  This would indicate what level of refund could be issued.

Thank you again for your patience as we plan for the upcoming hockey season. We are extremely excited to be gearing up to head back on the ice for a 2020/2021 season!
